Here is Brooklyne's Dance, she absolutely loves dance. She will for sure be dancing for a long time to come.

Okay so today has been a weird day for weather. We have been warned that a major storm was heading our way and we were going to see a mix between ice and snow. Never in a million years would I have believed that for at least an hour and a half we would have thunder, lightning, snow and sleet.
We have been telling Brooklyne ever since she was really little that the best thing about winter is that the thunder and the lightning stop and it is all about snow (she is terrified of thunder).
As soon as I heard the thunder I called Jim to see what Brooklyne was doing and he said, freaking out but with a confused look on her face.
I walk in the door after work and the first thing Britton says to me is "Mom you lied, it can thunder and lightning in the winter, didn't you know that". I didn't even know what to say to her.
Around 7:30 things ended, except for the snow, so we will wait and see how much we will end up with.
I just love winter in Nebraska!!!!!
Here is the girls' Christmas program. Turn the volume up and enjoy. Brooklyne and the kindergarten class are the first 4 songs, and Britton and the 1st grade class are the last 4 songs.
I apologize for the crying child in the background. We were sitting in the theatre packed like sardines (they were not anticipating as many people as they had) so it was crowded and the poor kids behind be were fed up.
Okay, so life in the Jones household has been somewhat normal this last week. So that is why there is a lack of posts.

We have Brooklyne's Christmas Dance show, and both girls have their school Christmas concert on Tuesday night.
My goal is to take the video camera and try to post some video of both events.

I hope everyone is full of Christmas cheer. I know that we are all ready here in our house. The trick is going to be for the girls to keep their behavior under control for the next 2 1/2 weeks.
We have to keep reminding them that Santa is watching. HOHOHO.

This year she wanted a High School Musical Cake. One quick call to Aunt Wilma and she gets things taken care of from there.

Britton says THANK YOU to everyone.Well I am happy to report that we had a pretty eventful week here at the Jones house. We will have some updates after this weekend, Britton is having her birthday party on Sunday so as long as we remember the camera we will be in good shape for next weeks posts.
Brooklyne has had a couple of different dance shows, the lights at her first show were not good to our camera so we did not get any good pictures, and the second show we forgot the camera.
She will be having her Christmas show in December so I hope to take the camera and video camera so you can all see what a little performer she is.
Check back this weekend and we will have some updates.
So I don't want any of you to get your hopes up by viewing the below pictures. You will for sure not be receiving a plate full of Christmas cookies from the Jones family. I thought it would be fun to make some sugar cookies this weekend before the holiday season gets into full swing. I thought that maybe the girls and I could start a new family tradition. Lets just say there will not be any new traditions in this house this year. This was a nightmare from the word go. Lets just say the cookies are good and it is taking us less time to eat them than it took to make them. Aunt Wilma the recipe for these cookies is delicious. And the fact that we used Christmas cookie cutters, Christmas colored frosting and Easter sprinkles makes them that much more appealing.
I let each of them pick out a cookie cutter, gave them a portion of the dough and off they went. Jim is caring the cookie sheets to the oven as fast as we are filling them up.
Here is Britton putting all her effort into her batch. Trust me they lost interest very quickly, so our project soon became a nightmare for Jim and I.
I don't even know how to start this post, but I know one thing for sure it has been a long week.
I woke up Wednesday morning with the worst pain I have ever felt, the worst part was it was the left side of my chest around the area of my heart. The pain was so very intense it literally took my breath away. It was a pain I had never felt before and was not only in one area, it was also the same pain directly through to by shoulder. I got the kids up, got them to school, mentioned to Jim that I was having some pain and off to work I went.
We are short staffed at work so when my coworker got in I told her I was not feeling the best just in case something terrible happened to me at work she would have some idea of what was going on. I emailed my old boss (who is an EMT) to get her take on what the problem might be and she replied " I am not a doctor, but I think it would be wise to call you doctor". Shrugging off that thought I continued to work. By 1:45 I could not take the pain anymore. I had been taking Advil since I woke up and could not get rid of the pain. So I called my mother in law who works across the street and asked her if I could come up for a blood pressure check. It was of course high and she to said "you need to call your doctor". Still being stubborn, and I think upsetting my mother in law, she goes out into her office and gets one of her nurses and has her come in.
Needless to say I did call the doctor and off to the ER I went. Jim's mom came with me, she seems to be the one person who remains completely calm no matter how scary the situation becomes. My doc had called so they were ready for me when as soon as I was in the door.
Doing an EKG because just like I was thinking they thought I was having a heart attack, they also noticed the broken foot that I was sporting and ordered a cat scan to make sure I did not have a blood clot.
After over 2 hours, a cat scan, EKG, IV, morphine, one arm poked twice the other once, oxygen and alot of waiting for results. They could not figure out what was causing the pain. My doc did not want to keep me overnight, so homeward bound I was with a huge morphine high and no idea what was causing me to feel horrible.
I am happy to report that the pain is going away, still mild but nothing (at all) like it was on Wednesday. I will be doing a follow up with my doc next week unless this mystery warrants a sooner visit.
I have alot of new posts on here, Jim had a chance to get the pictures onto the computer for me, so I took full advantage.
There has been alot going on this last week, and now we are in November so things will start getting busier and busier.
I am off to start my christmas shopping, my couisin who is going to college in Hastings is coming down and her and I are going to go out shopping.
About a week ago we were talking the office about toys that we had when we were growing up. We started to talk about our Cabbage Patch Kids. We were each telling our stories about where our dolls were. I was telling my coworkers that my first ever doll I received when I was in kindergarten. My mom told me that she would get me one if I would write my name. Back then it was almost impossible to get a doll, and when she got mine she was able to get it at Montgomery Wards in Kimball. When my mom passed away, I put my cabbage patch in her casket with her. I knew that it would forever be safe with my mom.
So this week was my boss' last week and she said that she had a gift for us. She had these 2 boxes all wrapped up, as soon as she sat them on the desk my coworker Polly said oh my gosh it is a cabbage patch kid. As soon as I opened it she had picked one out that was the closest to mine as she could. I told the girls that they cannot play with it, it is going to stay in the box. It is the 25th Anniversary cabbage patch so it is just like I remember them.

Britton just loves to read, she will take a book with her anywhere. When we went back home in September my Aunt Cindy gave her a bag full of Junie B. Jones books. She has read every single one of them once, now she is on time number 2.
Last night when we got home, she went into her room and started to read. I went in to check on her later and this is what I saw. She was sound to sleep with her Junie B. Jones book.
Here is Britton with her cousin out on the town trick or treating. It was beautiful night so we took advantage and went along a little different route that keep us out a little bit longer.
Brooklyne was sent home from school earlier in the day with an upset stomach. So we tried our best to keep her from running from house to house, but she seemed to feel alot better when it was time to go out and get the candy.
Yesterday I went to the foot Dr. because I had injured my foot. It was hurting bad enough for me to call my mother in law and ask her who I should go see, my regular doc or a specialist.
I settled for a specialist thinking that with the paid I was having it would be best for him to check out my foot.
I went in and told him where I was having the pain and he did what all docs do, let me take a look. He was one of those docs that looks with his hands, he grabbed the side of my foot and that was all she wrote. Off to the x-ray machine.
He comes back in the room and says indeed I had injured my foot, I had a fracture in the exact place the pain was coming from. He said that the best way for this to heal would be a walking boot. 2 weeks with the walking boot and then back for another x-ray to see if it is healing.
What a time to be in a big ole boot, time to take the kids trick or treating. Jim told me I should have asked the doc for 2 boots, then I could have dressed up like Frankenstein. HaHa.
I will let you all know how things come out in 2 weeks.
Jim and I finally made it down to Lincoln to a Husker game. For those of you who know Jim, this is where he would like to spend every home game. I will be the first to admit, It is an awesome feeling being in a stadium with 85,000 people (which the game we were at was the 295th sold out home game and the total of people 85, 105 people were in attendance). I am sure we will be doing it again. We were able to go thanks to Jim's job having season tickets and allowing their employees to use them. Thanks Office Net we had a great time. Thanks also to our great friends The Bueschers ( aka The Bueschet's) for the ride, we had a great time.

So, since the beginning of the week our local weather stations continuously warned that this major winter storm was going to be hitting the area. The details were very well laid out and they had posted winter storm warnings, blizzard warnings, and winter weather advisories. Like most parents did I got the girls' winter jackets out and washed so we were ready to face this first winter storm with ease.
Wednesday morning we woke up to rain and 30 mile an hour wind, but it did not seem very cold outside. So I stepped out onto our front porch and decided that the girls would probably not need their winter coats. Off to school they went. By 10am the snow was here, the temperature just keep dropping and I felt horrible because my kids were going to freeze. It changed back and forth all day from rain to snow and the wind seemed as though it was blowing harder and harder.
I picked the girls up for religious ed classes and the first thing that Britton said to me was " We have to go to church with the weather like this" I said yes you will be fine, you will be inside.
We got them home and put them in their heavy pajamas and tucked them into bed telling them that most likely we would have snow on the ground in the morning. Both of them so excited for snow were making weekend plans to go sledding down the street.
Needless to say we woke up this morning and NO SNOW!!! We dodged the bullet, up north of us some places received 6 inches and all we had was rain.
The girls were for sure upset. In the back of my head I was so thankful, Jim and I are going to the Husker game on Saturday and I for sure did not want to sit in a cold, snowy stadium for 3 hours.
It will come sooner than later. Winter is just around the corner, no matter if we are ready or not. I am just glad we dodged the bullet this time around.
I am going to try this out and see just how I like it. I have a few friends that have blogs and it is so fun to get on and see what is going on in thier families. Since we are all miles apart I decided this was a great way for you all to see just what we are up to.
